Important Smith Lake News:

January 1, 2010 is the deadline to remove beaded Styrofoam from state lakes and Alabama Power reservoirs. Beaded styrofoam can deteriorate and crumble, endangering wildlife and affecting water quality. When removing, please dispose of it properly so it doesn’t re-enter the lake. The best place to take beaded foam is a permitted landfill. For more information, contact the Alabama Shoreline Management office near you.
